SRILANKANS TAKE LEAGUE TITLE
In
final Sunday of the league season the Srilankans were crowned the league
champions and Moufflons by taking 8 points against WSBA pushed themselves into
fifth place in the league, one point ahead of Amdocs and one point behind
Fellows.
After
their game at the UN ground Srilankan CC were awarded the league trophy,
accepted by captain Dileepa.

In
the six years of the Cyprus league this is the third time that the Srilankans
have taken the trophy home.
The
Srilankans are sponsored by Mr Vikramasinga, President of the Srilankan Welfare
Association, and we are all grateful to him for his continued support of Cyprus
cricket through the years.
All
the Srilankan team were presented with their championship medals.

Lions
lay 8 points behind in second place and Cyprus College Flames are third.
In
contention for bowler of the season mention was given to Rajoram of Amdocs
and Anju of Srilankan CC for their
hat tricks, Niroshan (Srilankan CC) and Chris Markides (Fellows) for their
economy, 5 wicket takers Alan (Moufflons), Kapila (Lions), Nishit (Flames) Prashes
(Flames), Sunil (Amdocs), Bhatti (Taj) and Fernado (Fellows) for 3 times taking
3 wickets in an innings, Anju (Srilankan CC) and Aman Deep (Amdocs) for 2 times
taking three wickets in an innings. One bowler managed both to take a five
wicket haul and take three wickets in three innings and this was Kapila of
Lions.

In
contention for best batsman were Rubel (Moufflons) for his century 116 v
Aynic., Muhammad (Moufflons) for four innings of more than 40 runs, 63 v Lions,
62 v Aynic, 58 v Amdocs and 40 v Fellows and Sampath Tsangerides (Srilankan CC)
for three innings over 40 runs, 87 v Moufflons, 55 v Dekelia and 40 v WSBA. But
for producing the goods in vital games against Fellows and Lions, with five
innings of over 40 runs, and for being the first batsman in the Cyprus league
to score over one thousand runs, batsman of the season is Dileepa.
