Sri Lankans CC vs Moufflons CC

This Sunday (Nov 1), Moufflons CC entertained the champions Sri Lankans CC at Happy Valley for the last league game of the season.

The ground committee had an early morning pitch inspection after heavy overnight rain and a poor forecast for the day. The pitch and outfield were wet but playable and Moufflons winning the toss elected to bat and get the runs on the board to try and stifle the Sri Lankans run machine.

Moufflons CC openers Roshan Dhanusanda and Sakhawat Rubel started well enough and after 5 overs were 27 without loss and beginning to look confident but the loss of 2 wickets in 2 overs pegged them back.

Moufflons’ Captain Muhammad Husain now batting and having trouble working out Kapila Wickram's spin and control, some how managed to kept the scoreboard turning over and a few lusty blows managed to remove the cunning left arm spinner from the attack. However, going for one too many big shots Husain (39) was well caught on the boundary and the innings fell away from 80 runs for two wickets to 113 all out with some good catching and ground fielding from the Sri Lankans.

Sri Lankans CC started the run chase in typical aggressive fashion and after 5 overs they were 39 without loss but 2 wickets in the sixth over briefly gave the Moufflons CC attack some hope but Danuka Agathocleous digging in and placing his shots well and running hard between the wickets meant the Sri Lankans ran out easy winners by 5 wickets in the 19th over.

At the end of the game the Sri Lankans were crowned League Champions and presented with a trophy and medals.
