Bangladesh CC vs. Dhekelia Village

The newly formed Dhekelia Village CC took on their first opponents of the league this year with a friendly away game at Happy Valley against Bangladesh CC. The sun was shining and a strong wind blew across the ground.  After losing the toss Dhekelia was put into bat and got a good start thanks to Barton putting on 29 before being bowled by Harris.  The middle order fared no better until a good partnership between Mel and Kotzei putting on 54 runs between them gave the village side a chance of a defendable total.  However the side was undone by good bowling with Linkon taking 5 wickets for 19 runs off of 7.3 overs.  Dhekelia were bowled out for a total of 116 runs.

This left the Village side needing to bowl well and field even better to stand a chance of defending the total.  Despite some impressive bowling with Mel going for only 8 runs from 4 overs, wickets were hard to come by with Sumon eventually being bowled out by Buba on 47. The total was reached with the loss of only 2 wickets.  Despite being beaten the new side have learnt some valuable lessons, in particular the importance of taking catches after 3 were put down, which could have changed the game entirely.  All in all an enjoyable days cricket had by all!!!
