We have come a long way since we first started in 1999.

Youth cricket now attract about 100 eager young cricketers, some of whom have developed in to talented players who are now ready to face International opponents.

Cyprus is an Affiliate Member of The European Cricket Council who are keen for Cyprus to compete against other European Nations. Our Full National Team is already preparing to make their debut on the International Stage. In August 2006 they travel to Belgium to compete against Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Czech Rep. and Sweden.

In 2007 we plan to enter an Under 15 Team in their European Championships. In preparation for that we are taking our most promising young talent to Holland in July 2006. Holland are one of the most developed European Cricketing Nations who will be competing in next years World Cup. We will have the benefit of some excellent facilities as well as expert coaches.Matches are planned in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague. We also expect to play a Triangular Tournament in Antwerp to include Belgium, Holland and Cyprus.

This gives a great incentive to our Young Cricketers to work hard to become one of the lucky ones selected. You may have an International Cricketer in your family soon! The Tour to Holland is expected to be led by Colin Relton from Foleys School in Limassol and John Mills of St Johns School. They are among our most dedicated and experienced Coaches who will also be putting in a lot of effort between now and July with their after school cricket clubs.

None of this can happen without the dedication of our volunteer coaches. We do rely on cricketers in the Forces Community to help us out and every year we lose about 50% of them. So if you think you could help with coaching and supervising young cricketers on Saturday mornings then please contact The Cyprus Cricket Association, even if you have little or no experience, as there will be experienced coaches at hand.
