YOUTH FESTIVAL 2009

May 15th saw the tenth Youth Festival at Happy Valley. Organised by Steve Carr, the youth cricket programme had run for ten weeks. Children of all ages had had a progressive introduction to the skills of cricket tutored by Cyprus Cricket coaches, now familiar faces for the children, Barry Allison, Kevin and Cherrry Klein, Muhammad Hussein, Hugh Relton, Peter Bond and Phil Bell.

All were present at the culmination of the programme, the Youth cricket festival, where the children paraded their newly acquired skills as they battled it out against each other for the prizes and medals on the victory table.

Terry Holt, youth coach at Lancashire cricket gave out the prizes to children from every corner of the globe, drawn together, playing a game that transcends boundaries and cultures.

For the first time the event was broadcast on Cyprus TV, as Cyprus Sports Channel sent a camera to record the festival, helping to spread the word to a nonplussed Cyprus audience.
