Kazepis beat Moufflons in the 30-over league after recovering from 7 for 4 to reach 153, and then bowling Moufflons out for 109.
Lakhi and Jeet did the early damage for Moufflons, and although Jabbar Ali and Kaleem staged a partial recovery, scoring 27 each, the bowlers remained on top. Lakhi moved the ball both ways to take 3 for 24, and Sohel again bowled his legspin well for 2-24.
Shahid hit a few of his powerful boundaries, but Kazepis were rescued by an excellent innings of 44 by Baber, batting at number 9. His 4 sixes helped his team to 153, which gave them something to bowl at.
Moufflons’ reply was feeble. Although 5 batsmen reached double figures, none of them passed 20. Shafaqat and Baber formed a strong opening attack, and were well supported by Qaiser and Sanju, playing his last game.
The key wickets were taken by Shafaqat – bowling birthday boy Murtaza, and later taking an outstanding catch low down off his own bowling from a ferocious drive by Muhammad. After that, the end seemed inevitable, and the match was ended in style by Usman taking three wickets in four balls to give Kazepis a 44-run victory.
Kazepis 30 points; Moufflons 8.
