Fellows establish lead after beating Moufflons
Fellows sit undefeated in first place in the Moneygram T20 league table after a simple win against Moufflons, who crashed back to earth after their historic win over Mustangs the previous week.
After putting Fellows in to bat, Moufflons would have been relatively happy to restrict them to 140 for 7 from their 20 overs. Murtaza bowled well without reward, Mahboob was very economical, and spinners Sohel, Imran and Muhammad all took wickets. Muhammad was again a magnet for the ball, taking another three catches.
The main contributions for Fellows came from Tim Katsapas with a controlled 43 which included some powerful pull shots, and Shoaib (41), with some late impetus from Zeeshan (18).
Fellows’ strong bowling attack put paid to any thoughts of a Moufflons victory. All six bowlers used took wickets cheaply, with the honours going to Zeeshan with 1 for 6 from his 3 overs of outswing, Christos (2-11), Anil (2-4) and Zahid (2-17). The only batsman to reach double figures was Shahzeb who made a good-looking 32, as Moufflons were reduced to playing for bonus points. They failed even to achieve this as they subsided to 77 all out.
On this showing Fellows will take some stopping in this competition. They took 30 points to Moufflons’ 5.
