Fellows recent record against Kazepis has been good, and still unbeaten in this competition, had good reason to feel confident. But they were to be brutally disillusioned.
Kazepis batted first, progressing slowly with just 28 runs after six overs with two wickets fallen. Then opener Omar took off, taking three sixes off Chris M's last over, ruining otherwise immaculate figures. Fellows had no answer for Omar, who first built a partnership of 40 with Manan, and then continued with a second partnership of 74 with Shahid. Omar and Shahid ripped into Fellows attack, hitting 11 sixes between them, taking the score on to 141, when in the 17th over, Omar was bowled by Mike K for 62, shortly followed by Shahid bowled by spinner Sonu for 41. Before their wickets were taken Kazepis were looking to a score of 180+ and Fellows did well to contain them to 164 with some tight bowling over the last overs.
Fellows has not been asked to chase a big score this competition. Starting slowly openers Fahad and Zahid reached 27 after six overs. But then the innings collapsed. Falling increasingly short of the required run rate, a scramble for runs led to three run outs and unable at any time to grips with the Kazepis bowling, Fellows were all out in the 17th over with just 65 runs scored. Spinner Sadiq did a fair amount of damage with figures of 10 for 3 from his four overs.
